YES! This challenge is suitable for anyone over the age of 17 years. Most people sign up
as individuals and one thing we have in common, is the sense for adventure and the
desire to help change children’s lives in the UK.
This event has been designed to be challenging, but achievable so long as you train in
advance. You do not need to be a professional athlete! Trekking Expedition tips can be found in the downloads section of this website.
We will be staying in hotels (twin share) and campsites. When camping, all tents are
supplied and erected for us by the local crew, which leaves us to concentrate on the
trekking!
No. All you need is a pair of broken in walking boots, a sleeping bag and maybe some
walking poles if you are used to them. We will send you a full list of items you need to
bring after you’ve registered.
No. You will only have to carry a day sack with items you need for that day (sun-screen,
water, camera etc). Your main piece of luggage can be left in the Hotel in Dharamsala
and your other items needed for the trek will be carried from camp to camp by our horses!
All meals are provided except lunch on Day 3, 9 and 10. We can cater for all dietary
requirements so long as we know in advance, and you state this on the registration form. Indian food is very nutritious and not like what you find on your high street!
Return flights from London to Delhi, all transfers, all accommodation, all meals
(except lunch on Day 3, 9 & 10), celebratory dinner, porters and English speaking local
guides, cooks, tents, Global Adventure Challenges Expedition Leader from UK,
comprehensive medical kit.
Airport Taxes – these are currently £150 per person and payable 6 weeks prior to departure,
personal travel insurance, Visa for India, gratuities and your own kit.
All extensions are strictly limited and go on a first come first served basis – please contact
us as soon as possible if you want to extend your stay. Please note that the final decision
rests with the airline.
There will be strong support Team with a Global Adventure Challenges Expedition Leader
from the UK in addition to local guides and porters. Full medical kits are taken and a
satellite telephone to ensure extra security.
There will be regular rest stops where we can drink and eat a snack – there is no problem
if you want to take more than we plan! A guide will be bringing up the rear ensuring
no-one is left on trail alone. Remember, this is not a race!
Your physical fitness will not affect your ability to cope with the altitude. However, the fitter
you are the better you will handle life in the mountains. Altitude sickness is caused by
decreased oxygen concentration in the blood due to lower atmospheric pressure at altitude.
