Absolutely! This cycle challenge is suitable for anyone (minimum 17 years old) with a lust for adventure and a desire to help their favourite charity.
Most people will sign up as individuals, from all walks of life, meaning you’ll all be in the same situation!
You will need to have a reasonable level of fitness at the time of the challenge, and to have trained beforehand. Anyone can complete this Challenge with some prior preparation – remember that you are cycling for 5 consecutive days, in temperatures of over 35 degrees – the fitter you are, the more you will enjoy this Challenge. There are some cycling training tips available under the downloads section of this site.
We will be staying in mixture of hotels, lodges, campsites and will have the honour of spending the night in a Palace! Our campsites will be set up by our porters ready for our arrival at the end of each days cycling.
Your bicycle hire is included and a full kit list of what to take will be sent to you once you register to take part. Apart from some cycling shorts, gloves and a helmet, you do not need any other kit.
No. Your luggage will be transported to each accommodation on our support vehicle. A day pack will be needed for when cycling, to carry items such as sun screen, camera etc – this can be a rucksack, or a bum-bag, or a small bicycle bag that can be fixed to your bicycle – it is completely up to you.
All meals are provided from apart from Dinner on day 2 and day 8, lunch on day 3 and day 9. There will be a great choice of meat and vegetables, with all dietary requirements catered for – please fill in the appropriate section on your registration form. Fresh drinking water is supplied everyday whilst cycling for you to fill water bottles.
Return flights from London Airport to Delhi, all transfers, all accommodation, experienced local guides, top of the range local mountain bike, an experienced bicycle mechanic, support vehicles, spare parts and bicycles, comprehensive medical kit, local english speaking doctor, snack and refreshment stops (provided approx. every 15km en route – biscuits, fruit etc), all site entrance fees where applicable (entrance to the Taj Mahal), Global Adventure Challenges Expedition Leader.
Indian Visa (further details regarding application will be sent closer to departure), personal travel insurance – it is strongly advised to take this out through Global Adventure Challenges – further information will be sent after registration, personal airport taxes – these are approx. £120 to £150 and payable 6 weeks prior to departure, alcoholic and soft drinks, tips for crew.
All return flight extensions are strictly limited and are given on a first come, first served basis. Please note, the final decision always rests with the airline. There is a £60 + VAT charge to have your return ticket extended. Those wanting to request an extension should do so in writing AFTER registration.
There will be a strong support Team with a professional Global Adventure Challenges Leader from the UK, as well as local guides and mechanics. A full comprehensive medical kit will be taken.
There will be regular rest stops where we can drink and eat some snacks – there is no problem if you need to take more rest stops. A guide will be bringing up the rear of the group ensuring no-one is left alone – remember though, this is not a race!
Once you have signed up you will receive a fundraising pack from the Charity in order to make your fundraising as easy as possible.
Places are limited and go on a first come, first served basis so try to register as soon as you can! You will need to fill in a registration form (available in the downloads section) and a Medical Questionnaire and post it back to Global Adventure Challenges along with the Registration Fee. Once your registration is received, Global Adventure Challenges will write to you sending you further information on what to expect from this awesome adventure! The Charity will also be in contact with you to discuss your fundraising.
