The Challenge
Below is a guide to the trekking challenge that lies ahead of you!
Day 1We depart the UK for our overnight flight to Salvador Airport.
Day 2We are met by our local guides, then transfer straight to Chapada Diamantina. We arrive at Lencois and check into our hotel and if time permits, we will have the opportunity to visit Morro do Pai Inacio (Father Inacio’s Hill) 1,240m, for some of the best views of Chapada Diamantina.
Travel time 6/7 hours.
Day 3 – Lencois – Fumaca – Pousada Vale do CapaoToday we start to explore the ‘Lost World’ with a trek to the Cachoeira da Fumaca (Smoke Falls) – a massive 340m waterfall. The trekking will be tough as the trail is steep in order to reach this amazing sight. The wind here spreads the water and even carries it upwards forming a curtain of droplets, thus being called ‘smoke’. We head back to Pousada Vale do Capao after lunch, a fantastic place with stunning views of Chapada Diamantine Park.

Day 4 – Pousada Vale do Capao – Gerais Do Vieira – Mr Wilson’s HouseWe are trekking in an area with the BEST scenery Brazil has to offer! The Pati Valley is our first destination in today’s trek, passing through the beautiful altitude fields “Gerais do Viera” and “Ruinha” – this is the old community centre of the National Park. A tough day of trekking that ends in the afternoon at Mr Wilson’s House (a native house) where we spend the night.

Day 5 – Mr Wilson’s House – Morro Castelo – Mrs Leia’s House – Pati Valley – Mr Massur’s HouseFunil and Lejedo are two of the most stunning and magnificent secret waterfalls within the park and the first destinations for todays trek! We then trek to Mrs Leia’s house for lunch – a native of the area.
We then scale up the Morro do Castelo – a stunning peak surrounding the area. We hike down the mountain and continue trekking through the Pati Valley to Mr Massur’s House, which is located by the entrance of the Cachoeirao Valley, for an overnight stay.

Day 6 - Mr Massurs’ House – Cachoeirao – Mr Bezo’s HouseWe set off today to spend a very tough day trekking to Cachoeirao Waterfall – a whopping 200m high! In order to reach this stunning fall, we trek on the huge rocks that make up the river bed and after a few ‘dips’ on the way, we soon reach our goal.
After taking in such awesome surroundings, we trek through the Pati Valley to Mr Bezo’s, where we enjoy dinner and overnight.

Day 7 – Mr Bezo’s House – Andarai – Poco Pool (Blue Pool) – Pousada Pedras de IgatuWe make the most of our last day exploring the ‘Lost World’ with an early start! We aim to arrive at Andarai at midday, where our support jeep will be waiting for us. We then take the transfer to Poco Azul (Blue Pool) – a crystal clear lake hidden in a cave where the water changes colour with the suns placement – a truly magical place to end our challenge. There will be time to have a quick swim in the pool before taking the transfer to Igatu, where we spend the night in Pousada Pedras de Igatu.

Day 8 – Transfer to SalvadorWe transfer to Salvador today and upon arrival, we check into our hotel located in Pelourinho – a time to relax and take in what we’ve achieved.

Day 9 – SalvadorWe are back in Brazils capital of happiness and we have a full free day to explore the beautiful city of Salvador. It earned its title as capital of happiness because of its easygoing population and countless popular outdoor parties. It’s scattered with stunning beaches and full of colonial charm.
A fantastic day will be had all we suspect! We meet this evening to hold our celebratory dinner.
Day 10We take the transfer to Salvador Airport for our return flight to the UK arriving the next day.
Day 11Arrive back in the UK.
