YES! This challenge is suitable for anyone over the age of 17 years. Most people sign up as individuals and one thing we have in common, is the sense for adventure and the desire to help sense.
This event has been designed to be challenging, but achievable so long as you train in advance. You do not need to be a professional athlete! Trekking training tips can be found in the downloads section to point you in the right direction.
Our accommodation will be a mixture of hotels and native houses (Pousadas)
No. All you need is a pair of broken in walking boots and maybe some walking poles if you are used to them. We will send you a full list of items you need to bring after you’ve registered.
No. You will only have to carry a day sack with items you need for that day (sun-screen, water, camera etc). Your main piece of luggage will be waiting for you at your next accommodation.
All meals and water are provided from day 2 to day 11. We can cater for all dietary requirements so long as we know in advance, and you state this on the registration form. Brazilian food is very nutritious and there will be a selection of meats and vegetables to choose from!
Return flights from London to Salvador, all transfers, all accommodation, all meals, celebratory dinner, porters and English speaking local guides, cooks, Global Adventure Challenge Expedition Leader from UK, a Sense representative and a comprehensive medical kit.
Airport Taxes – these are currently £160 per person and payable 6 weeks prior to departure, personal travel insurance, visa for Brazil (if applicable), gratuities, alcoholic drinks and your own kit.
All extensions are strictly limited and go on a first come first served basis – please contact us as soon as possible if you want to extend your stay. Please note that the final decision rests with the airline.
There will be strong support Team with a Global Adventure Challenge Expedition Leader from the UK in addition to local guides and porters. Full medical kits are taken and a satellite telephone to ensure extra security.
There will be regular rest stops where we can drink and eat a snack – there is no problem if you want to take more than we plan! A guide will be bringing up the rear ensuring no-one is left on trail alone. Remember, this is not a race!
Once you have registered to take part, sense will send you a comprehensive fundraising pack in order to make your fundraising as easy as possible.
Places are extremely limited and go on a first come, first served basis so please try to register as soon as you can! You will need to fill out a registration form and send it back to Global Adventure Challenges with your non-refundable registration fee. Once received, your adventure of a lifetime begins! We will send you more information about the challenge, and Sense will provide you with unlimited support with your fundraising.
